Abstract
|
|
|
This study was designed to investigate fertilization potential of human spermatozoa following ICSI into hamster ova using morphologically normal and abnormal spermatozoa from severe male factor patients as well as to evaluate clinical usefulness
of
this
test as a prognostic indicator in ICSI-IVF.
ICSI into hamster ova was performed using morphologically normal and abnormal spermatozoa from 8 oligoasthenoteratozoospermic patients to estimate the rate of sperm head decondensation or male pronucleus formation.
@ES The results were as follows; @EN After ICSI morphologically normal and abnormal spermatozoa, the rate of sperm head decondensation or male pronucleus formation within the ova cytoplasm were 72.3% (47/65), 65.33% (49/75), respectively. After
ICSI of
morphologically normal and abnormal spermatozoa in each patients, the rate of sperm head decondensation or male pronucleus formation ranged from 54.33-88.89%, 55.56-81.81%, respectively.
In conclusion, these data demonstrate that morphologically normal and abnormal spermatozoa have similar fertilization potential and ICSI using hamster ova be used for the prediction of success of ICSI in clinical IVF.
